"How might I capture the lustre and malleability of a real-world soft sculpture in a 3D space?"
This work is an experimental project created in Autodesk Maya. I wanted to make a realistic, fantasy object, so I decided to challenge myself to recreate one of the small fabric sculptures I have made as an artwork - I call them 'Mossys'. They feature original photography, printed on to satin, sewed into a pillow with hand-stitched embroidery and an original sound within the object that is activated when squeezed.
This work received an honourable mention in the Arts Mildura Small Sculpture Prize in 2019. For more information on the work please visit gracekingston.com/portfolio/small-works-prize-arts-mildura/
